Food Trucks & Vendors

Food trucks and vendors are an important part of City of Inman events. Participating vendors must complete the required process and meet all City requirements prior to operating.

Getting Started

Step 1: Apply for Temporary Use Permit

  • All mobile vendors must complete a "Temporary Use Permit" application via the Community Core portal and upload all required documents BEFORE obtaining/renewing a city business license.

  • Submit a $30 Temporary Use Permit Fee.

Step 2: Safety Inspection & Temporary Use Permit Issuance

  • Once all required documents are uploaded, email planning@cityofinman.org to schedule a safety inspection with SAFEbuilt.

  • The Temporary Use Permit will be issued after an inspection has been passed.

Step 3: City of Inman Business License

  • Once the Temporary Use Permit has been issued, visit City Hall to pay a separate annual business license fee.

  • The license and permit run concurrently and expire annually on April 30th. They must be renewed together via the Temporary Use Permit renewal process.

Step 4: Window Decal

  • Once your Permit and License have been issued/renewed, you will receive a numbered decal that MUST be displayed in the window of your mobile unit. Decal is required for event participation.

* Note: All food vendors must meet the requirements of Regulation 61-25 (South Carolina Retail Food Establishments) and all applicable guidelines from the South Carolina Department of Agriculture

Email sloftis@cityofinman.org regarding interest in being present at City of Inman events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to complete the whole application?

Yes, we can't process incomplete applications, so make sure everything is filled out before you submit

Can I go to the Fire Department for my inspection?

No, inspections are done by SAFEbuilt now.

Once you've applied for your Temporary Use Permit and paid the fee, you can schedule your inspection through the Planning Department.

(You might still be told to go to the Fire Department location - that's normal for space purposes)

How do I know if I'm exempt from a Retail Food License?

Some vendors are exempt depending on what you serve. You can check the SC Department of Agriculture's list at this link.

What do I need to upload in Community Core?

Here's what we'll need from you:

  • Mobile Food Vendor Application

  • Interior and exterior photos of your unit

  • SC Department of Agriculture inspection/approval

  • Current SC Retail Food Establishment License

  • Proof of Insurance

  • Employee restroom use plan

  • Written permission from owner of property where unit will be

  • If you're within 250 feet of a restaurant, a signed waiver from the owner

What if I'm doing a City event and don't have a restaurant waiver or permitted use?

No problem, just include the event name and the event organizer's contact info when you apply.

Why am I paying $30 twice?

They're two different things:

  • $30 Temporary Use Permit

  • $30 Business License

Both are required to operate in the City of Inman
